Chiropractic and the Adjustment

What Does a Chiropractor Do?

A chiropractor is a healthcare professional who specializes in diagnosing and treating neuromusculoskeletal conditions, particularly those affecting the spine, joints, and nervous system. Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation (chiropractic adjustments), mobilization, soft tissue therapy, and rehabilitative exercises to help alleviate pain and improve function in the spine and extremities.

Gonstead: (Utilized by Dr. Rob)

Using a small heat-sensing instrument that detects temperature differences up and down your spine. These temperature differences are due to a misalignment of the vertebrae producing nerve interference or irritation. This technique helps pin point the problem area in the body! Gonstead is one of the safest methods of chiropractic, allowing the option of adjusting children, pregnant women, and also the elderly.

Chiropractic Adjustments:

A chiropractic adjustment (also called spinal manipulation) is a hands-on technique used to restore proper movement and alignment to the spine or joints by applying a quick thrust to the affected joint. This thrust will often produce a “popping” sound called a cavitation. This is due to gas bubbles being produced in the joint and is completely normal and harmless.
